Warranty
1. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Everything below is in addition to those rights, not instead of them.
2. Our express warranty
We warrant each phone we sell against defects in the hardware and in our pre-configuration for 12 months from the date of purchase. This warranty is given by Spectre (trading as “global privacy”, ABN [ABN]), contactable at ausprivacygroup@protonmail.com or Signal apg.98.
- Hardware: the handset is a genuine Google Pixel and free from defects in materials and workmanship in normal use.
- Software configuration: the device completes setup successfully, boots into GrapheneOS with the bootloader relocked, and the apps and profiles we advertise are installed and working at handoff.
- Connectivity bundle: the eSIM, VPN account, and messaging licence dispensed to your device are valid and unused at the time of handoff.
3. What this warranty does not cover
- Physical damage after handoff (drops, liquid, crushing) or normal cosmetic wear.
- Battery wear from normal use.
- Loss of your PINs, passwords, or the one-time handoff sheet — by design we keep no copy and cannot recover them. A device locked out this way can be re-flashed, which erases it.
- Data you store on the device after handoff. Back it up; a warranty repair or replacement may involve a wipe.
- Changes you make after handoff that re-unlock the bootloader, replace the operating system, or disable its security features.
- Service changes by third-party providers (carrier eSIM coverage, Mullvad, Threema, Signal) that are outside our control — though we will help you get a bundle working at handoff.
None of these exclusions limit your statutory rights for goods that were not of acceptable quality when sold.
4. Making a claim
- Contact us by email or Signal with your order reference (or the approximate purchase date and model) and a description of the fault.
- We will arrange assessment. For remote customers, this usually means posting the device to an address we provide; for local customers, a meeting can be arranged.
- If the claim is accepted we will repair, replace, or refund. We cover return postage for accepted claims; you bear the cost of sending the device to us, which we reimburse if the claim is accepted.
- Wipe risk: assessment or repair may require re-flashing the device, which erases it. Remove or back up anything you need first, where the fault allows.
5. Manufacturer warranty
Google’s own hardware warranty may also apply to the handset. Installing a third-party operating system can complicate a claim made directly with Google; that does not affect your rights against us as the seller under the Australian Consumer Law or this express warranty. Bring hardware faults to us first.
